You are now ready for your very first dragon encounter.

Wear your SHIELD, your DRAGONBANE sword, and either the PENTAGRAM TIARA or the PENTAGRAM NECKLACE.

Make sure you are always wearing your AVALON HUD and that it is charged with protection.

On your HUD you will see a sword icon and a shield icon.  You will be using these during your battle against the dragon.

In the lair waiting area, to the right of the lair entrance, there is a scroll on the wall titled, “Dragon Combat Guide”.  Click on the scroll to receive a notecard and read the guide.

Go to the MAIN Landing Point by using the CASTLE PORTAL that is on your HUD.  Walk inside the Stronghold to the far end, on the right side of the room to the PRACTICE DUMMY.  (If you are feeling confident about defeating a dragon, you can skip this step.)

GET ITEMS 37 & 38:  WOODEN PRACTICE SWORD AND WOODEN PRACTICE SHIELD

There is a PRACTICE DUMMY set up in the back right corner of the Stronghold beyond the MAIN Landing Point.

Click on one of the training dummies:

Training Dummy: Hello Alanna500 Resident. Welcome to Catacombs Combat

Training.

 

Training Dummy: Please stay in range for the training. If you walk away too far, the

training will end.

 

Training Dummy: Good. I see you got everything we need to start training.

 

Training Dummy: First you should know how to defend yourself. If any creature

sends a RED line of particles to you, it will attack you shortly.

 

Training Dummy: To defend yourself just touch the Shield symbol at your HUD and

then the creature which likes to attack you.

 

Training Dummy: You have to touch the shield every time you like to block. You're

not getting into a block mode or something.

 

Training Dummy: Some creatures are fast, some are not. Quickness of the creature

depends on how quick you have to be with blocking.

 

Training Dummy: There are also creatures on the Realm of Avalon which can

attack you with different body parts. Like claws or teeth.

 

Training Dummy: To block a specific attack of a creature you have to touch the

right body part of it.

 

Training Dummy: Now. Touch the dummy to defend yourself.

 

 

Touch the dummy, a red beam will come at you. Quickly touch the shield on your HUD and then click on the practice dummy.

Training Dummy: Good work. You successfully blocked the attack.

 

Training Dummy: Now you will attack by yourself. Attacking is similar to defend.

 

Training Dummy: However. You have to touch the attack button in your HUD first. A

GREEN line of particles will show the desired target.

 

Training Dummy: Same as with defending: Quicker opponents will evade or block

your attack if you are not quick enough to attack.´

 

Training Dummy: Also: Huge creatures maybe got more than one hit area and you

have to touch the right body part again.

 

Training Dummy: Now... Try to attack.

 

 

Once again, click on the training dummy.  Now click the sword on your HUD and click the training dummy again.

Training Dummy: Great. You attacked the dummy without any problems at the end.

Training Dummy: But you should know, that attacking living creatures is much
harder that hitting a dummy.

Training Dummy: You may accidently miss a hit. Or an attack may be parried. You will recognize that attacking while blocking,

Training Dummy: or the other way around will not work. Or after missing your
target, it will take a while to get your sword back into position.

Training Dummy: So have fun. And take care of yourself.

Training Dummy: The Battlemasters of Avalon.

 

Now you are ready to proceed back to the Dragon Encounter.  Click the SKULL PORTAL on your HUD to return to the cemetery.

You can now use the TELEPORT at the cemetery entrance that takes you directly to the Dragon Lair.  Look for the SKULL resting above a podium, be sure you are wearing your Avalon Group Tag and click on the SKULL to Teleport to the Dragon Lair.

THE DRAGON ENCOUNTER

STEP 1:         After you Teleport from the Skull Teleporter at the entrance of the cemetery, approach the lair by walking through the Blue Portal.

If the portal is purple, this means you must wait for the dragon to reawaken.  There will be a timer above the door indicating how long this will take (up to 10 minutes).

If the portal is red, this means you do not have your PENTAGRAM NECKLACE or TIARA equipped. Be sure you have one of these equipped along with your sword and shield.

STEP 2:         Once you walk through the portal, you will be standing in front of a set of double doors.  There is a 1-minute count down from this point.  You will see the count down in local chat:

Magic Gate shouts: The doors to the Dragon's Lair will be closed in 60 seconds

At the end of the 60 seconds, the double doors will open and you must enter the lair.  Go quickly!  Get yourself close to the dragon’s feet (if you are too far away, your weapons will not work). 

STEP 3:         Use your camera zoom to cam away from the dragon so you are able to view the entire dragon from his head to his feet.  This enables you to block and attack all areas (head, chest, front legs) without moving your camera again. 

STEP 4:         Turn your cam in such a way that your HUD is very close to the dragon on your screen.  I find it best to view from the side, so when the dragon breathes fire you can still see and block his attacks.  Many slayers use a different approach. Experiment to see what works best for you.

Dragon: Now show me how strong you really are...

TO BLOCK / DEFEND: 

·         The dragon will emit a RED beam towards your avatar.  As soon as you see a red beam, click the SHIELD ICON on your HUD then VERY QUICKLY click on the body part of the dragon where the red beam came from.

·         There are 4 places the dragon will attack from:  Head, chest, left front leg and right front leg.

·         You will see this message if you did not click on the HUD shield correctly:

Shield: Do you like to block the attack with your bare hands. First tell me what you like to use.

TO ATTACK: 

·         In order to attack the dragon, you must click the SWORD ICON on your HUD.  Wait, and you will soon see a GREEN beam come towards your avatar.  As soon as you see the green beam, click the body part of the dragon where it came from.

·         There are 4 places the dragon can be attacked:  Head, chest, left front leg and right front leg.

·         In order to attack again, you must click the SWORD ICON again.  Do this repeatedly throughout your battle encounter in order to produce the GREEN attack beams.

Dragon Battle: The dragon was hit for 342 HP

Dragon Battle: Life of Dragon: 19658

Excalibur: You hit with your sword, but the attack is parried.

Excalibur: Your last attack missed. Wait a second, until you have your sword back in position to attack.

Excalibur: You attack, but the dragon evades.

NOTE: 

Up to 3 Slayers may enter the lair together at the same time.  Each player will be attacked by separate beams.  You can only defend against beams that are aimed towards your avatar.  You cannot defend against red beams that are attacking another player. The same holds true for the green, attack beams.

HEALTH BAR:

During the Dragon Encounter, you will see on your AVALON HUD the health of the dragon and your health as well.  The dragon starts with 20,000 health points, you start with 3,000 health points.  You must attack the dragon until his health is diminished to zero.  If your health reaches zero first, you will die.

If you DIE:

Dragon Battle: Alanna was hit for 1727 HP

Dragon: HAHAHA I knew that you would never survive

Dragon: My fire's a little hot, hu? If you are brave enough to come again, try to wear some cooling gear. HARHARHAR

Dragon shouts: Hahaha... You never had a chance to kill me...

You can charge your HUD with protection at the cemetery and return to the lair to try again.

When you defeat the dragon:

You defeated the dragon and are now worthy to be called a Dragon Slayer of Avalon.

Dragon shouts: AAAAAAHHHHHHRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG......

Ancients of Avalon: Your new Rank will be set in near future. So, check it in your group settings the next days.

(You should send a notecard to the Lady of Avalon to let her know you have slain your first dragon.  She will award your Dragon Slayer title and once received, you will be able to proceed with Episode 2 of the quest series.

DRAGON LEVELS:

There are 5 types of dragons:

• Beginner 1-40 kills
• Intermediate 41-70 kills
• Elite 71+ kills
• Insane (Ultimate) 500+ (You die after getting hit twice.)
• Black – random spawn or summoned with a token from the prisoner
  
  

If you enter the lair with a group, the person who has the highest kill count in the group will determine the type of dragon you are fighting from the list above.

If you survive the battle and win, you can fight the dragon again if you would like to, but the dragon will only count for your mount kill count total every 2 hours or 120 minutes. This is kept track at the magic gate before you enter the dragons lair.  You can see how many minutes are left until your next fight on the display of your HUD.

GET ITEMS 39 – 54: COLLECT THE SWORDS, SHIELDS AND ARMOR FROM THE CAVE

After you defeat the dragon, take some pictures for memories, take the DRAGON TROPHY (click on the fallen dragon head - only one person can take the head trophy each time). Next, go to the cave at the far side and take all swords and shields, then put on your pentagram rune and get your set of armor from the coffin.

*NOTE:  The DOUBLE BLADED EXECTUTOR SWORD is only available if you have completed the ROPES COURSE behind the tavern and have obtained the ROPE CHALLENGE TOKEN.

You must be wearing the PENTAGRAM TIARA or PENTAGRAM NECKLACE in order to teleport through the portal in the lair.  It will take you to the Avalon Forest where you should pay attention to the local chat telling you about a strange dream.   Follow the hints and begin the next quest in the series, Episode 2: The Curse of the Necromancer.

ITEMS 73 – 75: GET A DRAGON MOUNT

Each time you slay a dragon in the lair, your “kill count” is recorded and displayed on the board found in the front corner of the Stronghold at the Main Landing Point.  You can also view your kill count on the display of your Avalon HUD.

There is currently a total of 3 Dragon Mounts you can obtain as rewards.

The Basic Dragon Mounts – there are 11 to choose from but you can only choose 1 as a reward.  Each Dragon Mount requires a different number of kills in order to obtain the reward.  There is a poster in the Stronghold (to the left of the reward chest) with a picture of each mount. The names and required kills for each of the Basic Dragon Mounts are as follows:

• 25 Kills – Scaled Dragon
• 50 Kills – Emerald Dragon
• 75 Kills – Serpent Dragon
• 100 Kills – Sapphire Dragon
• 125 Kills – Darkfall Dragon
• 150 Kills – Silverfall Dragon
• 175 Kills – Twilight Dragon
• 200 Kills – Blackmoor Dragon
• 225 Kills – Amethyst Dragon
• 250 Kills – Indigo Dragon
• 275 Kills – Sinister Dragon
  
  

The Rare Dragon Mount is the GOLDEN DRAGON MOUNT.  These are pictured on a poster to the right of the reward chest.  There are 3 versions to choose from, but you can receive only 1 of them.  This dragon mount requires 500 kills.

The Supreme Dragon Mount is the UNDEAD DRAGON MOUNT that is also pictured to the right of the reward chest.  This dragon requires 1,000 kills in order to receive this reward.
